Having issues retrieving invoices from a company

I'm having issues retrieving past invoices for services I had over 2 y ago from an Internet supplier

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

I'm having issues retrieving past invoices for my internet payment as the supplier is saying that they don't supply invoices older than 2 years from the current date. I have not had issues retrieving others from 4 or 5 years even as I know they have to keep the records for 6 years but these lot are not willing to send me invoices from 2017. Where am I standing law-wise, is there legislation/deadlines for this at all or this company is just being rude. I know they have them but they're not willing to help, they never went sent to me but made available on their online portal.

Any help here is much appreciated.

Thank you,

Juan

Tough. You should have looked after the originals.

Suppliers only have to give you one invoice for each service.

Any copies are nothing more than a courtesy.

Obviously, you could offer to pay for their time ..........

If you have had invoices and lost them, I'd say you are stuffed.

Just to make it clearer, this is an internet supply company. Invoices probably have been available on their system/login portal at the time but they never sent them to me directly.

Thanks

Well, feel free to have that conversation with them but I'd suggest to you that they were made available to you and you just didn't bother to download them until it was too late.

Think about coaxing them to comply with your request rather than shouting about your rights.

I've tried kindly and amicably to no avail.

I hate it when clients request copies of documents that I have emailed them in the past. Search your emails!

I have this regularly - particularly from Sub-Contractors wanting copies of monthly statements which they say they never received and of course they need them IMMEDIATELY. I really don't mind helping out ocassionally but it's reaching ridiculous levels, particularly in the last 6 months. I can give them the date and exact time that they were sent but the problem is so many people can't be bothered to do the job themselves. Whilst I'm having a moan.... I send a Remittance with every payment I make which shows the invoice(s) I'm paying. You can bet within a few weeks I'm being questioned about what the payment was for - meaning presumably that their bank is not reconciled for weeks and weeks either.
We could of course apply and admin charge for each search but that doesn't really help business relations.

As I said I've never received any invoices via email, please read the post instead of insulting and you'll come across a bit less as how you describe myself.

Just so you all are aware I've found out that due to the GDPR these days you can access all data that a company holds about you if you ask about a data subject access request; this includes invoices. It can take up to 28 days to process and has to be free of charge.

Many thanks for the replies (a part from the insulting one that was rude an out of place)

Are there any supplies made to you that you think could have been zero rated?
(probably not)

So, you have evidence of payment on your bank, and more recent invoices.

I would be treating the payments as vatable expenses and moving on.
