@Heating Installer

Kudos

Didn't find your answer?

I wanted to give a Shout Out from the AW community to one particular member, Heating Installer.

For anyone who managed to miss it, the latest thread from a Joe Public stretched to well over 100 posts due to the usual. We'll leave it there as this post isn't about negativity, so please no-one make it so.

What I wanted to say is that halfway down page 2 Heating Installer wrote a fantastic post which received 15 thanks and a few '+1's almost immediately.

I just wanted to give Heating Installer the public appreciation they deserve with their own thread and (hopefully) lots of 'likes', rather than some (well, lots) of 'thanks' halfway down the second page of a thread, but please thank their post as well

So - Heating Installer - thank you for your attitude and putting it out their.   We'll forget the fact that you aren't an accountant and so technically shouldn't be here ... ;)

Ladies & Gentlemen, show your appreciation for the exception to the rule.

Agree
But the member shows a level of knowledge that does qualify for membership as clearly interested

I think appreciating the work of accountants, and acknowledging the value of the information shared here, makes them worthy of entry.

Non-accountants who come in with this attitude generally get a better steer, even when "see an accountant" is still the main thrust of responses. If only all non-accountant members could be more like that.

[quote=stepurhan] ''I think appreciating the work of accountants'' and still not trying to DIY based on information found on these forums is an important message. I appreciate the free information I can get from forums for heating engineers, but I know when to draw the line and its pretty early on in any kind of process,

Talking of which, I do have a thermostat for a Baxi boiler that I need help with, and wondering whether to message him/her directly in the hope they are local ;-)

In all seriousness, it was a pleasure to read their comments, makes a change and more than some Accountants in here would post.

You've obviously asked/will ask Sift to transfer the likes you get onto Heating Installer's account.

You would almost think this is a wind up of the order of the thread
Thanks count
Likes are for people who ask questions, so worthless to a responder

With the exception of MTD threads, the thanks button pressed 10 times would be rare, very rare
Heating installer currently has 26 thanks on one posting
34 thanks in total on that thread (at time of posting)

So recognition is indeed there

For other members
Even once a thread has been closed, the thanks button continues to work.
Members could make that posting the most thanked this year

Apparently not

“ I have gone back to the team and discussed this, but it seems like we can't do this unfortunately. The likes are out of our control in the system.”

But it is just digital stuff and Aweb cannot fix it?
Maybe time for Aweb to reappraise the massive benefits of all things digital. Some hope!

Just read the thread, and I agree, it was great to see Heating Installer defending the regular contributors, with some excellent reasons why.

I too wanted to thank heating engineer for his steer to 'teamjim'. I also lurk on here to gain valuable insight from the regular 'big guns' who take the time to respond (and to whom I am also very grateful). I have messaged Tallulah (who shut the thread down) regarding 'teamjim' and his offensive language to people who were trying to help someone who appeared to be trying to do DIY in a complicated area and then had the temerity to call himself an accountant. I really hope that none of the regular contributors call it a day over this post - the guidance and opinion they offer so freely is highly regarded by me and I too consider it a privilege to be able to be an 'Awebber' - thanks to one and all.

Thank you for all the 'thanks' and 'likes' (and right back at you all) very much appreciated but not really deserved as my post was not really 'on forum topic'!

Actually I should be apologising - the spelling and gramar in my post was appalling, I'll put it down to the steam from my ears obscuring the keyboard :-)

As far as heating questions go, happy to receive PM from anyone here and help if I can.
