HMRC Agent login new clients not showing

HMRC Agent login clients not showing since site down for maintenance

Didn't find your answer?

Since the weekend 'planned maintenance' none of the SA agent codes I have input are showing up on my client list.

In fact I have one that was input on Wednesday 28th, the rest were input when it came back online on Tuesday afternoon.

Can anyone confirm whether codes input since then have clients showing yet?

You used to be able to go to the old gateway to check assignments, but that seems to have been turned off too.

Hi RedFive, YOu are not alone if this give you some comfort. I've also inputted some codes and no sign of the accepted client on my client listing. When I phoned the agent services, they confirmed that I'm authorised for the specific client, however I can't see them in my client list. They suggested I call 0300 200 3600 which I attempted to make a contact all in vain. We can only hope and pray that they fix their own internal issues affecting accountants. No doubt IR35 scaremongering discouraged lot of good IT professionals and hence this type of problem.

There was a thread on this the other day:

Very irritating.

Same here, I was just about to ask the question. Also Tax Year Overview not showing for 17/18 returns submitted nearly 2 weeks ago. Client needs it for a mortgage.

I have had similar issues, but the agent helpline spoke to me.

This pre-dates the downtime.

I dont think I asked them to do anything, I was after some info for the client which I obtained.

I assume it was just HMRC being slow adding me.

Just checked and its not there now, I added last Monday, so nearly 2 weeks ago.

Went to an AAT / HMRC event and HMRC confirmed much to the amazement of all in the room that you WONT see a client list on the New Agent online portal. You will not see a breakdown of the liabilities for each client and no history of filing. Needless to say there were a lot of unhappy agents in the room!!
we were told you will only be able to see what has been submitted through the MTD software you use. The old Agent Government Gateway account will still be available but will not be updated to show any submissions for tax, vat or corporation tax after 01.04.2019.

Wow.

I use the account at least 3 or 4 times a day, and call 'em about once or twice a week.

So I will have to call them 20 odd times a week.

Now thats progress.....

so are you saying we won't be able to view the clients records?
how do we change clients address or print tax year overviews?
Do you have a contact number?

I was under the impression that you would see all that fed back through your own software when using the new account.

Which, if it works, is an improvement because, as we've seen this week, relying on the HMRC website isn't working for us now.

Also same with VAT. Code input on 28/11 not appearing.

Anyone spoken to HMRC yet?

Problem with relying on software is which one do you use?

So Xero / QBO will give you VAT records (though at the moment all you get is amount submitted - what if I need info from the certificate etc?), and what about SA or PAYE?

Hopefully TaxCalc or similiar will build it in to the client dashboard so you can pull info across all taxes into a viewer there. Or is that a pipedream?

I have one the other way around.

I have a CIS account which shows me I am the current agent refuse to accept it.

I told them I was looking at my account and the client is clearly shown

HMRC - Said that couldn't possibly be the case.

The system just seems to have got a lot more bugs into lately, its a good job they are great on the phones at helping you out though

K81 As I understand it the Client will have to update details from their own online account. So ALL clients in the future will require an online HMRC account.
Apparently there is a stakeholder communications pack of which again the majority of the Agents in the room knew nothing about which gives additional information.

thanks for your reply & link.
I am concerned. I need to be able to see the clients records, his tax codes, whether he's made his payment on account & most of the time its the only way I find out that there is a student loan!
half the time the client doesn't tell us they have moved let alone tell HMRC!
I also have set up five new clients, new to self-assessment, in the last month, I have five new clients to add to my client list but I don't know who is who to allocate UTR's on my records!
What a brilliant idea to start this before January.

I just spoke to the agent helpline and a client who was authorised in the last week is on my list per HMRC but not on my online list.

They said it is a known issue and their IT support are working on it but there is no date for it to be fixed.

I just don't see how you can submit a tax return if you can't see payments on account/tax codings/information to help you complete the return?

I cant think the statements made can be right.

MTD is only happening for VAT, they surely cant destroy the whole current SA system in April.....which has very very slowly reduced the number of calls to HMRC and increased 'self serving' and essentially outsourced a lot of HMRC's basic functions to agents.

We will be back to ringing the SA helpline for every single return to check basic stuff like "had the POA been made?" "what is in their tax code?"

I understand for VAT, the current portal goes once you are on MTD, and you access the same data via your MTD software. But they cant be switching it off if you are not on MTD surely? Thats mad as a box of frogs.

I agree. They wouldn't possibly just turn off all agents functionality for new clients in mid-Dec with no warning. I favour the complete and utter incompetence answer and they just broke the system with the recent update.

There is a message on HMRC service page:

"Problems viewing your online client list

We are aware that some clients are not appearing on your client list (portal). This is under urgent investigation and a further update will be given when the problem has been resolved.

This is not affecting the new agent services account.

We apologise for any inconvenience."

No idea what they mean about the 'new' agent services account. The MTD one? if so well that's never showed any clients since I set it up months ago.

Bravo HMRCodswallop.
