I phoned this morning. First call a few seconds after 08:00 was met with "sorry we are closed" Hung up and redialled and this time I got the "unusually busy on the phones today" treatment but I did get through.

As ever, it takes more than two minutes of the call to go through all of the garbage messages, including telling me that I can get lots of information on their website. It's fortunate that's a recording not a person as it would be very difficult to point out that if I could get what I wanted off their website, I wouldn't be wasting my ________ time listening to their pre-recorded cr@p

I refuse to call them and their rude staff. Write a letter - ask clients to rind or contact Local MP although of late even they can't get a reply. The Country is in free fall.

Good luck with the letter. I have been told by staff in complaints in Cardiff that the estimated time for dealing with correspondence that needs referral to Technical staff is between 8 and 12 months. HMRC still telling MPs that it is a month. Liars.

Bloody Nora, online services still down:

Sorry, the service is unavailable

You will be able to use the service later.

Question is, how much later?

Same issue as the portal being down. Tweet said there were technical issues. Poor service goes from bad to worse.

What bugs me is that when you can't access the service you think "is it me or is it them?". So you go to the HMRC online services availability site and it reports that everything is working as it should. Only days later do you see reports of a major outage. Their incompetence is staggering, as is the amount of time wasted.
