HMRC Correspondence

HMRC Correspondence

Didn't find your answer?

I have recently started receiving HMRC correspondence for 2 clients both of which I stopped acting for more than 6 years ago which is very odd and probably due to an HMRC error. The correspondence is for both PAYE and corporation tax. Has anyone else had these? I am just going to ignore the letters for now. We are not listed as agents.

Just ignore them

I get them now and then. I've tried informing HMRC that I no longer act (not listed as agent) but they don't respond. I think there's a rogue computer hidden away in Scotland which does nothing but send out erroneous letters to redundant agents. What happens after Independence? Can we bomb the blasted thing?

Me too

Over 4 years and still getting emails.  So much for confidentiality.  As it happens I have access to the same client and have been able to check the settings on their account.  My email address isn't on there but still they keep coming.........

* edit - I should have said that the emails I receive are for tax coding and changes.

Just send 'em back to HMRC

with a big red "No longer acting" across them, in an unstamped envelope.

Why should you have to pay for HMRC's [***]-ups?
