HMRC - do they even read correspondence?

...at the end of my tether

Didn't find your answer?

I currently have several clients being chased for CT liabilities - most are due credits for DLAs cleared in the previous accounting period (and the resultant s455 tax credit will cancel out the short payment I told them they could make).

I've added attachments to CT600's, submitted LP2's, written several letters etc, but NO response at all from HMRC.

Is there any specific address that I can write to for these issues to be resolved/formally complain ?  (I've so far been writing to CT Services, Bristol BX9 1EZ)

many thanks in advance of assistance

I called HMRC last week asking about a February letter. Operative found it in their system but just laughed when I asked when it would be dealt with & didn't give an answer.

Bristol ?

Hope you're not thinking BX is the postcode for Bristol.

Not sure where I got bristol from in my head - meant Bexley

from Google:

"BX9 1BX is an artificial post code and it’s not on the Royal Mail database. It’s a mail handling facility operated by HMRC in Bexley, Kent. Letters are opened and scanned and electronically dispatched to other HMRC offices.

Contact your MP and ask them to pass on your complaint to the minister in charge of HMRC. Do it as a formal complaint, that HMRC are not fit for purpose give detail on dates, blur blur blur.

Everyone who is having an issue should do this. In reality many cannot be bothered, so nothing ever changes.

Unlikely anything will change anyway.

Specific address?
The short (and long answer) is no.
But why would you be surprised?
The answer is don't have a DLA - I never did and have no issues. (well apart from thge boil on the end of my [***].......)
\HMRC have become a mechanism for issuing 'penalties' just like every other government department

ps: The boil is much reduced now.....

They replied in September 2021 to a letter I sent in November of 2020 (VAT), still awaiting a reply from one in April 2021 (CT).

I am still awaiting a reply to my September 2020 VAT letter; although they have just replied to my February reminder, to say they can't find my original letter.

With regard to corporation tax, my last issue was resolved surprisingly quickly by a phone call.

If all else fails send an e mail to the Chief Executive (Jim Harra), I did and got resolution reasonably quickly. About to do the same again on a different issue
