HMRC doesn't accept client's UTR or NI No

HMRC says details not recognized for SEISS

Didn't find your answer?

A client just called to say his details were not recognized when he tried to check the eligibility for the Self Employed Income Support Scheme. I double checked his UTR and NINO, both were correct. Has anyone encountered this as yet?

It is apparently not working comprehensively correctly yet. A number of people have told me today they successfully were marked as eligible. Others have told me they are marked as ineligible when I don't believe they are.

I hope it is a glitch. It told me I was ineligible (right after receiving today's condescending 'Dear Colleague' email setting out all the ways I should help 'our joint customers'...).

There's gonna be false positives. I tried me to see and I'm eligible. Technically they are right as I was self employed up to April 19 but I'm now paye under a Ltd.

Which does make me wonder who else in my situation may make a claim when they shouldnt. Jokingly said to the wife I guess I better have some self Employment on my 19/20 return, she said yeah stick the SEISS through as turnover.
