HMRC down?

Is it?

Didn't find your answer?

Is anyone else having problems submitting RTI's this morning.  I have got one (Moneysoft) that after 15 mins is still waiting for a response.  Unsurprisingly, their website doesn't have anything useful to say on the subject.  Just what we all need at the end of the month :-(

Yes - it was also slow last night - just had to cancel this morning's batch operation check for coding notices as it said it wasn't connected.

Same problem, can't get onto SA, VAT or PAYE although Corp Tax seems to be accessible.
Service issues page helpfully says "full service available" as usual!

Yep, "down for planned maintenance", but no maintenance planned!

They are just sacrificing a few goats and someone is running around in the bowels of HMRC's server room trying to find the big "on / off" switch.

I wonder if it has anything to do with their pay freeze having been announced yesterday.....

Does this mean that UK plc is finally broke, and they can't find 50p to put in the meter?

Problems with their phone lines?? Its a bit more serious than that. The whole system is broke. A worker at HMRC tells me their computers have crashed, from HMRC to the Treasury so its not just HMRC, it appears to be the whole of UK Plc!

But their updates page says there is no planned maintenance!

I suspect aliens are involved somehow.

From horses mouth, well, my mate Paul.

HMRC 3rd party server is down, they cannot update the service availability pages!

Should start to pick up again shortly.

If you're RTI submission is late does this count as a good reason....

I think it is the whole gov.uk website as they are trying to upload the lockdown tier levels for each postcode.

And it's the same today!
Phoned to speak to an advisor & got told, after some waffle about 'I would not be able to submit the MTD return due 7th December using MTD because I had only just signed up to it ' (this is a total lie as I have previously done so on many other clients a day after receiving the MTD acceptance) she was aware from some of her colleagues that there had been technical difficulties since 8.00 am.
I did ask why their website was sill saying that the full service is available but she just said it hadn't been updated yet. Now call me silly but if you KNOW there is a problem, that is the first thing you do so that you don't get hundreds ringing up to ask what is happening?

I wouldn't go so far as to call you silly but couldn't it be possible that if all their web facing computers broke down, it might prove difficult to update the website?

My reply above was serious. Came from a pal who is high up at HMRC. They cannot access their server, which is why they cannot update the availability pages (although what their excuses are for every other time I have no idea).

Problem is intermitent and expected to be resolved shortly (take what you will from that)

Doesn't bode well for Gvt insisting business have a robust recovery plan when they don't seem to have one themselves. Anything that can take their whole network down is surely a security breach.

Wonder if they'll report themselves to the ICO, or perhaps the ICO is similarly affected?!?

And I was right about being able to submit this quarter's return using MTD.
Thanks.
