HMRC omitting pension lump sum payment and tax

HMRC keep ignoring pension lump sum and tax stopped entered on SA

Didn't find your answer?

I wonder if anyone else has had this issue this year, and if so how did you resolve it.

A client received a pension lump sum during 17/18. Ive entered the taxable amount and the tax stopped on page 3 under Other pensions and tax stopped.

But when checking online, HMRC have ignored this lump sum and the tax stopped, and are just showing my clients other private pension income.

Ive re-submitted the SA twice now, as amendments, but the amounts still wont show.

My client rang HMRC and they confirmed they can not see any information relating to the lump sum payment, or tax stopped (even though they should already know this!)

Ive even included in the white space, the pension provider, their paye reference, amount taken, and tax stopped. Still no luck.

Im guessing ill need to call HMRC to get this sorted myself?

Very bizarre! Yes, I think your best bet is to ring the agent line and ask them to check whether the correct figures are flowing through to boxes 11 & 12 on page TR3 on their system. They should be able to update if not.

Actually, you just gave me a thought, could possibly be a software issue, I'll ring them first.
