HMRC online problems again?

HMRC online problems again?

Didn't find your answer?

Any one else having issues with HMRC online today?

I logged on this morning and no problems, all was there.

I updated Quickbooks to the latest version so I could start submitting the end of year employers returns but it kept coming up with 'authentication failure'.

Then tried to get back onto HMRC online and said username or password incorrect.

The online help was a complete joke. The pop up asking for help asked for me to put in a small description of the problem and then told me no one was available and to try again another time.

Send an email to the online services help section and in it put that I had logged on earlier and had not changed password etc. Got email back saying that the automated reply system had answered it for me and proceeded to direct me to a page to retrieve a username or password!

Managed to log onto HMRC site just now but SA section has an error and PAYE shows no clients and says there is an error.

I assume its just another HMRC problem. Nothing was listed in their online services status area though....

Something odd has been going on there for the past two weeks, I kept getting an error message when I went to the log in page, 'there is an error, please try again later' with no boxes to put in user ID or password.  I could still file via 3rd party softwares just couldn't get the log in page.  9 calls later a nice chap helped me find the log in page via google as opposed to going directly via the HMRC site, online services for almost 2 weeks were adamant there was no fault and it must be my PC (despite having explained I had been trying on 3 different ones).  Frustrating to say the least!

They clearly have issues. Just checked again and can log straight on and all the services are working again and all of the clients are there too.....

It's madness....

I have just logged in and only have 4 clients listed for Self Assessment and one of those is me!  Something seriously amiss as there should be over 300 there!

HMRC or Quickbooks?

Exact same problem here, I have been unable to file any payroll submissions since I updated Quickbooks yesterday. I can log in on the HMRC website without any problem but keep getting the authentication failure on QB. Have you now managed to submit on QB?

Just logged on and tried again on Quickbooks.

Looks like its not only HMRC playing up but perhaps a [***] up on Quickbooks like last year when the final submission unticked the employment allowance - had to resubmit 50 odd payrolls last year.

Maybe time to change payroll software too!

Strange.

Logged onto HMRC online and no problem all clients there etc.

Logged out and opened QB. Tried a submission and got the authentication failure message again.

So went to log in on HMRC site again and now cannot log in again! Maybe its QB causing the problem on HMRC site somehow.

Looked on QB site and no extra updates and nothing mentioned on the community forum bit either.....

Clearly a Quickbooks problem so have contacted them via the software.

Logged into HMRC and no problem. Tried QB and authentication failure.

Had the brainwave (for me) of submitting one on HMRC basic tools software as still use it for a couple of payroll clients.

Boom straight through no problem, no errors....

Uninstall R6

I have just spoken to them on the phone, we need to uninstall the latest update and reinstall the previous version as there is an issue with R6 and communication with HMRC!

Oh blimey.

So that means you wont be able to do the final submissions yet as QB said on their site that you had to have R6 version to avoid the [***] up they had last year where the employment allowance was unclaimed....

Did you manage to sort this?

I had a look and cannot see how you can uninstall an update. In fact one article I found on Google was a QB saying how 'it was not like windows and so you could not roll back after installing one'

Spoke to Quickbooks and they put me through to the Pro Advisor technical person.

2 1/2 hours later after she remotely accessed my computer the R6 is removed and R5 working again. The submissions which did not work now do.

But cannot do the year end ones until the new update is issued. No date given for that but before 5/4 (I should blooming think so)....

Now had an email from support.

Apparently the problem is that the new encryption software is having trouble with passwords.

Until the new update they are now saying use the old update and then use only lower case for your password!

Right so 2 1/2 hours wasted and now need to update back to where we were anyway!

Worried Now

I was going to start using/roll out  Quickbooks from 6/4/16 to coincide with my new website.

I believe Taxcalc/ Iris/Quickbooks (correct me if I'm wrong ), are one and the same.

I spent 5 hours on two partnership returns (Taxcalc) trying to revert from full to short partnership returns this tax year end.

They told me that I had exposed a glitch and thanked me for raising the issue that they would pass onto their programmers.

Give them their due, they rolled back my licences for a month in recognition of the issues, but that didn't give me back the time at year end when I was trying to hit the deadline.

How often do these Quickbook issues arise ?

Oh great. I really think it is time to move from Quickbooks.

14/15 we had the farce where the software unchecked the employment allowance claim. 15/16 we had the above password problem.

Today I have had clients phoning saying they have had higher demands for 15/16 which means the employment allowance has again been unclaimed (although to be fair it may be an HMRC issue but I doubt it).

On QB support site they are saying you have to do the unclaim and then reclaim thing as we had to in 14/15.

Time to move! Spoke to Brightpay at Accountex yesterday and their software for payroll seems a million times better than QB and is only £199 a year. I dont care if I have to re-enter all my clients stuff if the importing doesnt work....

Clearly is QB yet again as having to resubmit an EPS for all that were submitted pre the upgrade of the software to version 6. A load more time wasted.

Definitely time to move as thats 2 [***] ups this year and 1 last. Too many for a large company that should be ahead of the game.
