HMRC online services/payments on account

I tick the "collect through the tax code" box but the payments on account are still present

Didn't find your answer?

As above, I use online services for the odd client. I have ticked the "collect my tax through my PAYE code" expecting the payment on account to reduce to zero (as it does in Taxfiler).

Do I submit it and the payments on account will magically zero once the return has been "processed" or am I missing something?

Anyone got any experience of the above scenario in the context of HMRC online services?

Thanks!

There was a thread on this last week.

There was a reference to the legislation which showed that there are no POAs.

I'd find that thread and then postpone the POAs, quoting the cited legislation as the reason. Nothing else.

Sorry, haven't time to look just now.

Recently discovered that a few clients are receiving calculations including balancing charges and POA. Even after making sure it was set to take from tax code.

It isn't just hmrc online services, this was from software via gateway submission.

Looks like whoever drafted this year's tax calculation software didn't bother reading the legislation.
