Yes. It has been posted on the Agent Forum by me and one other. I am trying to get authorisation for a client.

Yep. Still, we can always catch up at the weekend. It's called the joys of self-employment, which the Civil Service simply wouldn't understand.

What a complete [***]-*ole, Britain has become. I often wonder, do we do anything really well, any longer.

Looks like someone forgot to put HMRC back online after being worked on this weekend.

I have RTIs to submit. Not good enough HMRC!

HMRC unplugged their super duper state of the art Making Tax Difficult server at the weekend as someone needed to plug a hoover in. By the time they'd finished the hoovering, the department responsible for plugging the server in had all gone home. Once a server plugging-in officer returned they found that the fuse in the server's plug had blown. They passed this information over to the department in charge of phoning an electrician, but they are away for the week on a gender awareness course

HMRC seem oblivious to the fact that many accountancy practices are operated in a, seemingly, old fashioned manner, by sole practitioners. Sorry 'customers'.

Harra and his associates have no real comprehension of the alternative (real) world, in which accountants and tax advisers have to be 'experts' and also 'Police' the so called underworld of criminal clients and ne'er do wells.

In all of this, the least we should be able to expect is that, when we need some support - in the form of online tools - they work more often than the current systems seem to do.

The present situation is a shambles and a complete embarassment. However, while ever the present administration carries on regardless, and fiddle, while Rome burns, what chance do the rest of us really have.

This is a new definition of "HMRC is broken".

So yet again due to IT issues at HMRC, as happened at the end of June with corp tax, we have returns submitted using out software which may or may not have been filed. HMRC receive the return (possibly) but cannot issue confirmation. Our own software suggests its not been submitted. The only way to check is to wait and see if its logged as received on the Government Gateway a few days later, and then manually adjust our own software as return is filed.

Oh well only another couple of hours wasted dealing with HMRC incompetence, at least it gives me something to do whilst waiting to get though on the phone after being cut off about an hour in to the last call.

And tomorrow, a few more hours trying to reconcile paye/cis with the figures showing on the government gateway, which are nothing like the RTI submissions or what apparently the person on the end of the phone is looking at, because they have a different system to the one we get to see.

Number of hours wasted each week dealing with HMRC issues, at a rough guess, about 10 in a good week.

Yes and it gets really wearing after a bit!

If the general public had any idea of what we have to put up with from HMRC on a daily basis they’d say we were making it up!!
