HMRC Processing Times

How long are they up to now ?

Didn't find your answer?

I sent in a couple of VAT1s recently.   How long are the currently taking to process them ?

I'm not optimistic.  I'm still waiting for a deregistration, applied for on 7th September.

What a state they're in !

If you were designing the most fundamental change (MTD), to the administration of the tax system, for at least 20 years, who would you trust with that development?

Well, certainly not HMRC. Shambolic doesn't even come near.

We have registered one client online in September and one last month. Both application have been processed within 3-4 days.
We've used agents 'register for new tax' via gov gateway

I concur.Online VAT applications (VAT1/VAT7) are done fairly quickly. The quickest turnaround I have seen is just within 48 hours!

Six months to deal with an Exclusion 70 Return submitted on paper.

Could be worse, it seems they are only now searching through 2016/17 Returns for exclusions still to correct.

I just called about a VAT1 submitted over a month ago, they said they had written to the client who had not responded within 15 days so they were closing the record! This is to meet targets.

She actually said that it would not really be closed if we reply within 30 days but they had targets so had to mark it as closed and send a letter to the client, but I wouldn't need to resubmit the VAT1. You couldn't make it up.
