HMRC sending SA statements to a very old address

HMRC sending SA statements to a 15 year old address

Didn't find your answer?

I have just received a SA statement for an ex partner who moved out over 15 years ago.  He is also an accountant so there is no way that he would not have changed his address with HMRC and I have never received any other post for him apart from junk mail.

What is going on?  How can HMRC suddenly start using an old address?

Do you mean that you have opened an HMRC communication addressed to a third party?

Or, he saw the persons name and old address on a brown envelope with HMRC written on it...

And so therefore knew it was "SA statement"??

Well the normal course of action on receipt of post that does not belong to you, is to either (a) give it to that person or (b) write "GONE AWAY" on it, and return it in the post.

Tricky stuff this.

Ha ha. Thanks all for stating the bleeding obvious.

The point of my question is that HMRC's computer system has suddenly decided to use a 15 year old address.

I rang HMRC and told them and they filled in a form but didn't seem too concerned that they had picked up a very old address.
