HMRC won't accept paper direct debit form for VAT

Didn't find your answer?

Morning,

I posted here a while back about getting a DDI setup for a new MTD client. Duly got client to complete the form and post it off. Got a letter back today stating that the client has to do this via their digital tax account (which they don't have). Quick call to HMRC's VAT helpline and this was confirmed.

Interested in other member's recent (post MTD) experiences here please.

We have had exactly the same situation and the client doesn't want their own tax account - seems a really bizarre thing for HMRC to have done.
