Home Office - Refurb

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

We are in our first year of business (online retailer) and based in our home office. Can we refurbish the office with fitted storage/desk and packing materials at full expense to the business? The room is solely used for this purpose.

Thanks,

Depends on your IVAs?

And why the corporation tax tag? Are you talking about what you did in March 2019? Or something you are planning to do?

Answers you get in here based on fake facts can be trusted even less than answers based on the truth. For one thing, TAX RULES CHANGE.

Thanks.

I don’t understand what you mean? The furniture is custom fit to include a packing desk and sized storage slots for the items we sell.

I guess operating from home is too much hassle!

But you're talking about a company operating from your home. I only know that because of your previous question about IVAs, and the CT tag this time. You are not the company. It operating from your home has altogether different tax rules to you operating from your home.

Might I make a practical suggestion for your consideration? Engage an accountant.

I think you have had your initial freebie question.

Why do you think you should have free advice from Accounting professionals? Interested as its seems that lots of folk wander into this site by mistake and think we are a charity.

Advice from a professional will be tailored to suit your circumstances, which is why it is worth paying for such. Besides we Accountants and Tax advisors train for moany years to learn our trade.

Beware other/other tax implications of doing what you suggest by the way you suggest it.

Why were you so unhappy during your years of training?

I assume you've considered the CGT situation if you have a dedicated part of the house for business use
