Hospitality grant

Closed but open for take away/click and collect

Didn't find your answer?

Following the announcement of a grant of up to £9k for those in the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors this week, are there any issues for any businesses claiming for it if they are still trading but closed to the public? This may include a restaurant offering takeaway food or a car showroom selling online and offering a click and collect service? I cannot see anything and I assume they are still eligible as the nature of their business is such that most of their trade comes as a result of people entering their premises.

you will need to ask the Local Authority

Hi

Not sure whether the new grant will follow the previous LRGs (Local Restrictions Grants) and the Lockdown 2.0 grant but, the previous iterations of "closed" grants in my locality specifically allowed for the provision of takeaway, delivery, click & collect (etc.). Clearly, one would assume the Claimant's business was not primarily that of takeaway, C&C in the first place!!!

I can only assume at this stage that the new grants will follow suit - i.e. they will be classed as "closed" - not "open"?!?

However, as NH said, check with the LA. As time has gone by, I've found their websites to be increasingly informative (particularly if the area has been in high tiers for a long period)!!!
