Hotels.com - am I being thick?

Differences between credit card charge and hotel receipts

Didn't find your answer?

Just wondering if I never got the memo :)

So, Hotels.com charge on the credit card is (roughly) £140.

Receipt given to credit card holder at checkout shows an initial deposit of £125.

Is it understood that there will be a difference between these amounts.

(I don't have access to the hotels.com booking login)

You'd have to look at the terms but the answer is probably a separate charge payable direct to hotels.com with the deposit.

Never used them myself, so hard to say.

Thanks - I can see this turning into similar to Amazon, where the paperwork is never quite right - and the provider says "well, we don't offer a service to businesses".

I will check with the department that books the hotels and report back!

I used booking.com last summer when staying in Bremen when driving back from Sweden, insofar as I recall the room charge I paid front end when booking was the same as the figure shown as already paid when we checked out of the Marriott; the only "extras" I paid on checkout were for parking for the three days.

It sounds a bit strange.

I better be careful as the plan this summer is to stop on the way back to Rotterdam at Hannover and I have still to book a hotel /hotels for the return drive- now too old to drive mid Sweden to Rotterdam in one go.

Nice to hear you've not drowned, DJKL.

I hear it's been drizzly in Auld Reekie.

I was fine-I live in North Edinburgh and work in North Edinburgh.

Other half had an interesting trip home from school but luckily had not taken her car so relied on the buses not going through deep water.

We were in Argyll a fortnight ago when the floods were on down here. Hardly saw any rain up there at all.

Didn't see much sun either, though, to be fair.

But were the midges out in force.

A friend of my father used to describe Argyll as , "b***** midges and b***** Campbells."

Never used the midge stuff this year.

Lots of Campbells though. In fact, there's a town full of them at the bottom of Kintyre.

Campbells - yet another example of not being able to trust the Government.

Sometimes there are "resort fees" on top. These are a type of local tax.
