It's that time of year again, and our traffic pattern suggests that an increasing number of members are well ahead of previous years' Self Assessment duties.

With the finish line in sight, how are you faring in your SA workload? Are you ahead of last year, or are you trying to catch up? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments below.

Our members asked for a monthly reminder from May to help prompt them into action to get ahead of their personal tax return work. From what we can see most of our members are now ahead of where they were last year. A few of our members are at 90% completion now.

First time I have seen the words 'Accountants' and 'Millionaire' together. Is that the cost of joining or where you might be 'this time next year'.

Has the deadline moved? I was counting on another three and a half months yet!

I think we're ahead but not by much, there's been a whole lot of unusual work that's cropped up this year with a lot of people closing down and it seems an equal number expanding/investing/branching out meaning additional advice is needed.

Yes, 3.5 months. Not a good thread title for an accounting site!

I'm ahead, slightly, but still have a large proportion to do and they are taking longer (mainly being absolutely sure we have caught all the COVID help and individual consideration of the effect on next years POAs) - there are plenty of opportunities for me to get behind again!

We are motoring on well. 250 filed or out for signature. 115 not done, out of which about 40 are in, or will come in with company accounts by mid Jan and get filed at the same time as the company accounts.

On target for well over 70% by the end of the month and well over 95% by Xmas. Most of the ones left in Jan are quick ones (£100k earners, directors of companies etc). All the hard ones are long done.

Way ahead of all previous years. Only 10 remaining, which is a miracle based on previous years. And all it took was informing all clients - in March - that from this year onward we will send one email and zero reminders for information. By end of July we have had all but 10 done.

8 of the 10 have been in contact saying they haven't forgotten - and all 8 will likely send info and complete only in the new year.

Happy to consider the other two a purge - debating a courtesy call to them at some point to understand their intentions &/or discuss disengagement if necessary.

It truly is liberating taking this approach with clients who have for the most part played ball in sending info and ultimately completing early.

Now we can truly enjoy a Christmas break with lots of trees, toys, turkeys, and trimmings. Oh, wait...
