How much do you charge for running payrolls

How much do you charge for running payrolls

Didn't find your answer?

We have just been asked if we will take on the running of 9 payrolls.  Just wanting to find out the going rate to charge for this.  Most of them are 1 or 2 director OMB.

For a monthly payroll with up to 2 Directors or Employees we would charge £25 per month + VAT. Then £5 per extra person per month if there are 3 or more Director/Employees.

Director only

For a director only payroll taking the exact same salary each month c. £100 - £150 + VAT per annum.  For fiddly payrolls c. £5.00 per payslip.

£25 pm for a stand alone payroll with up to 3 employees.

If client asks to do payroll as part of a bookkeeping, accounts prep. and tax package then simply add to DD £10 pm for a monthly or £15 pm for the fortnightly payroll.

Payroll charges

Thought I was cheap at £12.50 per month for 1-2 staff payrolls but it seems not - good.

Thinking of introducing an extra year end processing fee of say £30 as a one off this year. What do people think?

Year End Charges

We moved away from year end charges when RTI came in, as the process is so minimal at year end now it hardly seems fair. Clients seem to prefer a straight up monthly fee that covers everything, so we prefer to get the monthly fee right so that the client doesn't have to think about budgeting additional costs for various payrolling events.

Coates Business Services Ltd

We are a professional payroll bureau that specialise in providing payroll services to accountants. The accountants we work for generally have director only payrolls, or a small handful of employees, with a few exceptions going up beyond 25 employees. The principle of our set up is that we provide the service to the accountant at a discounted rate negotiated in advance, meaning the accountancy practice can make a margin by doing nothing. For payrolls of the size you have mentioned, the charge we recommend you make to the end client is £19.50 plus £1 per employee (plus VAT). The rate we charge you would be agreed in advance. We are all members of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, so you can be assured of getting good quality service from us. We can provide recommendations from accountants who currently outsource to us.
