How much does being a Xero partner cost?

I have ended up with three charities where I am trustee

Didn't find your answer?

I am currently treasurer / trustee of three charities, all using (as it happens) Sage on single user laptops, at vast expense.

I have never used Xero before, but it occurs to me that might be a useful way forward for each of them.

I am interested to know how much it costs to be the Xero 'partner', and thus able to put each of the charities onto a subscription in one place.

Not really looking for paid client work.

Each of these charities has an appropriate year end accountant.

Nothing, but as you are not in practice not sure if you are eligible?

I guess, but then there would be three 'accounts' to Xero out of it.

At least it's worth dropping them a line.

Thanks,

Being a Xero partner gives you next to no advantage unless you have a lot of clients plus you have to prove you are worthy!
If I was you I would ask the the year end accountants what they suggest as they will probably have deals in place with the usual suspects, Xero, Freeagent, Sage and QBO

I work only with charities and most of my clients use Sage. I am also a Xero partner and could easily encourage my clients to move to Xero but for most of them it is genuinely not the best solution - Sage works better. But it does depend on the situation.
You don't pay to be a Xero partner as long as you have at least one paying customer using it, but you have to go above a certain number before you get a discount so it's probably not worthwhile. You also have to keep up with their product updates and take a test. Charities can get a discount for using Xero, either with direct subscription or through a partner.

You don’t need to be a Partner to have 3 subscriptions on 1 account - I have a few clients who have 2+ companies on the same email address account.

There would be a subscription fee payable per account. So there would be a cost implication for the charities.

You can become a Xero partner. You only need to do the web tutorials if you want to be a certified partner.

As others have said, you have to have quite a lot of points to get discounts (depending on the number of clients and whether you pay or they pay directly) and then it is only about 15%.

Xero partner is zero cost, just those tutorials things which are a little irritating,
Xero just want you to be a xero salesman

If cost is an issue, consider Pandle. It's much cheaper than Xero and whilst basic, might be enough.

I wouldn't bother becoming a partner. Xero offer a reduced subscription to charitable organisations of 25%. To get the equivalent discount through the partner programme you'd need to become a Gold/Platinum partner!!!!

As one other responder has said Xero may not be a good replacement for Sage, but that's only relevant when you have significant numbers of restricted, or other funds, you are having to keep on top of. Other than that, it's all upside - better bank feeds, better reporting, access to NFP apps for claiming Gift Aid etc.

I'm in the same position. Which software did you end up going with?
