How much would the legal side of an MBO cost?

What are likely legal costs of an MBO if we have already agreed 99% between us?

Didn't find your answer?

Can anybody with experience of an MBO advise me on likely legal costs to budget for please? I have drafted a proposal that both parties are happy with but it's the legal costs involved with dealing with the share sale, property lease agreement etc.

We are a firm of accountants by the way-I guess that point is relevant as it is literally just the likely solicitor fees.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Piece of string I’m afraid.

Seen everything from £10k - £2m over the last 25 years.

The fact you have Heads of Agreement will help significantly, but the majority of Solicitors will want each side to be independently advised and this, of course, adds cost.

If you have any relationships start there. Other than that, it’s a google job.

1. Ask a lawyer
2. Don't forget shareholders agreement between the new owners

Why not just ask for a quote? A reputable firm will have a good idea of the work content in completing the deal.
