How quickly are CJRS grant payments being made?

The only furlough payment that reached our business account on the 27th of May 2020 was for April !

Didn't find your answer?

Our business has been paying reduced (dormancy) fees to an accountancy firm since March 2020. However, they insisted on submitting applications on our behalf under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS). Unfortunately, the only CJRS grant payment that reached our business bank account on the 27th of May 2020 was for April 2020. In the mean time the accountancy firm has already generated the salary payslips covering April, May and June 2020. Since the application submission and the salary payslip generation can be two independent processes, should we be concerned about a possibility that some applications were not submitted on time / at all by the accountancy firm? How quickly are the CJRS grant payments being made? By the way, does the application system allow to save completed application forms, so they can be requested from the accountancy firm, as a matter of urgency? Thanks.

All my clients, and everyone else that I know, have received the cash within six working days. When you have made the submission, a reference number comes and you are told to print it off. Ask them for these sheets

Same here. CJRS is time consuming but paid on time

You really need to make contact with the tax agent.
CJRS is paid 6 working days after application. You have until 31 July to make a claim up to 30 June 2020, or lose it.
What exactly is dormancy?
Did you choose to reduce the fees you pay?

Done correctly and on time furlough claims take double the time that wages take, subject to whether you are paying 100% or 80%

I get cheap wages staff to do the wages
I do furlough claims myself

Rather than ask some random strangers on the internet to speculate on what may / may not have happened have you asked the accountancy firm?

To be fair, I get the impression that the OP is seeking background info before approaching the accountants so that they know whether they are being fobbed off or not.

OP how quickly are you giving sound detail to your accountant so that they can (1) process the payroll and (2) process the CJRS claim?

If you have only some staff on furlough, particularly if it is interrupted by days of work, the timing of how the claim can be affected.

There are many reasons, but one could be, monthly payroll run and then monthly CJRS claim to HMRC. Speak to your agent; we can only speculate.

Thanks to all for your contributions. Here are the responses I am currently getting from the accountancy firm:

- You should receive the payment (VAS_GB: presumably for May) by the end of this week.
- HMRC have not yet sent any reference numbers with regard to this.

Regarding "Rather than ask some random strangers on the internet to speculate on what may / may not have happened have you asked the accountancy firm?", I could not get any information from the accountant at the time of asking.

Mmm
There is ALWAYS an on screen reference issued at the end of the process and if you are contacted HMRC will often ask you to quote this.

Why couldn't you get any information from them?
