How to tag financial document using Mozilla Firefox iXBRL Add-On?

How to tag financial document using Mozilla...

Didn't find your answer?

After lot of reading I come to know that we can convert financials from HTML format to iXBRL format by using Mozilla Firefox iXBRL Add-on. I went througth some demos and document about how to tag and create HMRC compliance document.

But I found it little difficult to mark each and every element manually by defining attributes in iXBRL Add-on, I am wondering is there any other way to tag in iXBRL Add-on, or its manual process to create each and every attribute for Value, Context, Unit and Label for each and very table.

Can anybody help me out on this, is there any easy way or correct steps to mark document in Firefox iXBRL Add-on, is there any link or documentation to get educate myself on iXBRL.

Why would you want to?

It is a big enough job for people who produce software for a living so why do it yourself?  You would need to repeat the process every year and make sure that you have up to date taxonomies.

Why not just buy something that will have it all sorted?

Firefox just displays iXBRL

Unfortunately, the Firefox add in doesn't create iXBRL but is a useful (but a bit clunky) tool to highlight the XBRL elements (in green blocks) in a valid iXBRL document.  It is more a displayer rather than Add In.  If you need any more help drop us a line.

iXBRL tagging

Do you currently use an software to aid in the tagging process. Firefox or any other browser (IE, Chrome etc.) are typical used to to display an iXBRL tagged file.

If you are having trouble manually tagging your accounts, you could always outsource to DataTracks (www.datatracks.co.uk) We can  handle files in multiple formats of word, excel and pdf. DataTracks will help you convert your financial statements and tax computations to the iXBRL format. You can use our online pay-as-you-go service for iXBRL conversion.
