How to view what my tax agent has submitted to hmrc

How to view what my tax agent has submitted to...

Didn't find your answer?

When I log into HMRC why am I unable to view historical submissions?

Your tax agent will be able to explain this to you.

Unfortunately he has passed on, Tim.

I have used the HMRC site previously as an individual, and assumed historical submissions would be availbale.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that.

Your agent will have used commercial agent software to submit your returns, and these can only be viewed from within that software and not from HMRC. Your agent should have had arrangements in place for your affairs to be taken over by another agent in the event of his death or incapacity, and you should have been notified of this by the other agent. In addition, your agent should have sent you all prior year returns for approval before they were submitted.

Is there something in particular you needed to check?

Thanks Tim.

Nothing in particular , just had some down time, and thought the information would be online, systems seems a touch archaic.

No real freedom of your own imformation.

Contact HMRC

If you contact HMRC on the Self Assessment Helpline (0300 200 3310), they will be able to provide you with copies of the returns that were submitted to them.

Unfortunately I you do not have copies of the returns that should have been provided to you, and you do not have access to the accountants own records (through a new agent), then calling HMRC will be your only option.

Third Party Software

This third party stuff isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I think you need to get in touch with HMRC and tell them the situation.  You should find them sympathetic in the circumstances.
