Pfft look how tiny the font is.

And no cute little hearts to click on.

And no pictures to help me understand headlines like 'accountant does some accounts'.

And, I guess the architects of the latest design still believe that this is a success...............
Or, it might be, given a year or so.

The new site really is a shambles compared to the previous no frills version. Ive just had to scroll back to the top after clicking "view more replies" to post a reply. A) why wouldnt I want to see all of the replies and B) why isnt the reply box at the bottom?

I hardly use the site any more its so bad.

"Dorogoi dlinnoyu"

Once upon a time there was a website
Where we used to post a point or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

[Chorus]
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd post and joke forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la...

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you on the website
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

[Chorus]
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd post and joke forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Just tonight I sat before the website
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

[Chorus]
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd post and joke forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Then on the site there came familiar laughter
I saw your avatar and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

[Chorus]
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd post and joke forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

isn't that a bit too obviously better?
surely if it was like that somebody at accountingweb would want to come along and mess it up?

It occurred to me today that since the new update I avoid viewing the site on my mobile and wait until I'm on my laptop usually. This because of the large images, text etc. It means I generally check in a lot less. Yet, wasn't the update aimed at being mobile friendly!
If AW are listening please bring back old version at least for AA

How did anyone manage in them ol' days without infinite scrolling?

Thanks (3)
Replying to Clinton:

Yes. It's the scrolling that really winds me up and keeps me away. The most interesting threads are the ones that are ruined by the never ending scrolling. No 'jump to last unread'. No 'jump to last'. If you try to scroll too quick you end up in a different thread altogether. Aweb is now the most unfriendly and unusable website I have ever had the displeasure to use. I've moved over to UKBF for now. I'll see if that's any better. I hope Sift don't put these 'improvements' on there.

Looks a friendly place (UKBF), on a first and brief visit. I see that Rachael Power is the Editor, which should be a plus.
Aweb seems to have taken the road to self-destruction at the moment and one wonders why these untested chnges seemed necessary.

Doesn't Sift own UKBF? If so it won't be long before that site is huge, orangey and scrolly too.

Quite convinced it will become; big, bold and cumbersome!
It's a bit like been visited by the neighbours from hell, when these Sift guys move in!

One thing that you notice from the screenshot of the old site is just how many questions used to be asked. There were 10 in just a 30 minute period.

Whereas for the new site, on the whole 24 hour period of 1 June 2016 there were just 20.

If the site is largely intended as clickbait for the huge display ads that now dominate, lower posting rate by the members is actually a feature rather than a bug from the owners point of view. It is all good news as long as enough people keep posting to generate daily fresh content.

You've missed off one rather important point (smile)
As long as fellow Accountants keep posting the Answers.

Are accountants & finance professionals as militant as French industrial workers ? Voting with one's intellect . . . . .

Should be due for "update number 5" I'd have thought?
With years of experience and, having met a great number of professionals, what I can say, with certainty, those individuals and teams, make what they do look sooooo easy.
It begs the question, in less than 5 weeks, this place has gone from being somewhere you enjoy visiting, to (hate to say it) a laughing stock.
How could anyone misjudge a situation or outcome, so badly?

Thanks (4)
