Instalment payments for corporation tax in 1st AP

Is the exception for profits < £10m in the first AP reduced by associated companies?

Didn't find your answer?

The HMRC guidance here --> https://www.gov.uk/guidance/corporation-tax-paying-in-instalments mentions the below under the Exceptions heading:

"its profits for the accounting period don’t exceed £10 million and either of the following applies:

at any time during the previous 12 months it didn’t exist or didn’t have an accounting period"

For this specific exemption only, is the £10 million an absolute limit or should it be reduced by associated companies?

The instructions for periods ending before/on or after 1 April 2015 detailed below mention reducing the limit by the number of associated companies, but I'm not sure if this applies for the Exceptions as well.

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this?

Yes you divide the £10m by the number of associated companies now called 51% companies.
