IRIS Elements not working possible glitch

Yes another Iris issue not being able to see self employment information in the data input section

Didn't find your answer?

Iris strikes again. Seems like you are unable to view self employment information relating to the previous 2023 tax year. Not sure why Iris keep having so many bugs with their software.

In what way do you mean you can’t view data? Data input on the self employment pages?

Oh, see what you mean now. Only way to get to the info is to click on the pages within the tax return itself and then click on any self-employment page. Same issue when you create a 2023/24 Return (which IS ready as it contains the transitional boxes)

Do we know why? Surely it’s a ‘section’ within the return so why is it not showing as with the other sections. So frustrating. I’ve literally spent about an hour trying to work out what exactly they’d done and then accidentally clicked onto the self employment on the actual return to then see it open up. Seems a bit backwards to me. Most of my clients are small sole traders who don’t have accounts prepared.

Also experienced the same earlier and thought it was just me.

On the bright side they've finally released an update that allows you to create the self-employment pages without linking a seperate sole trader record.

Bit late now as I've been using it over 12 months so had to create another record for clients I wasn't using Elements for accounts for them!
And seemingly that update has caused this glitch

Funnily enough, the accounts production in Elements for sole traders has grown on me and I've started using it more to prepare accounts.

It's still nice to have this option though so we don't have to bother with setting up a sole-trader record for the January bunch that aren't bothered about getting a polished set of accounts and just need to know how much to pay and when.

Oh yes, I like it and probably use for 95% of my clients. It was just some micro-micro clients who didn’t need a full set of accounts where creating a second record seemed pointless

"Not sure why Iris keep having so many bugs with their software."

its same as 2016 all over again - its clear they dont care.

what is worst is that poor people using the product seem to get more answers here than they do of the company making the f ups !

Yes, you can't get to the self-employment data entry page on a 2022/23 Return. It's not included in the list of sections on the persons "own" return and if you go to the (annoyingly separate) "trade" client it just loops back to the personal Return.
You can see the S/E page of the Return by going to the Tax Return itself and clicking the left hand menu item.
I wanted to enter S/E data on a 2023/24 Return yesterday and the only way I could see to enter S/E info for the year was to create a new trade and re-enter all the details. I didn't!
I had a "how are you getting on" call from Iris yesterday and mentioned it. The guy said, rather casually, that other people had mentioned the issue!
