IRIS ONLINE FILING PROBLEM!

IRIS ONLINE FILING PROBLEM!

Didn't find your answer?

This is not so much a question but a warning for all firms filing year end  PAYE returns using Iris PAYE- master. After installing the year end upgrade disc it appears that any employees whose earnings fall below the LEL(£102.00) will find that the NI figures appearing on their P60's will be incorrect. P11 reports show zero earnings for the affected weeks. I've been in touch with Iris Support and they are looking into this situation.

Many thanks for flagging this up - I hadn't noticed. Thankfully I haven't filed them yet.

Problem?

I can't comment on how Iris works (never used it) but on the face of it, there may not be a problem at all if you mean the P11 reports show zero NI earnings for the affected weeks. The "earnings at LEL" figure only needs to be recorded when earnings reach or exceed the LEL in the pay period. If earnings are below the LEL in a pay period, all the NI earnings fields will (and should) show zero for that period - this is what HMRC require.

It is actually the figures before the upgrade which are incorrect - showing gross salary instead of nil. The months after upgrade show the correct nil figure. Have spoken to IRIS who seem to have agreed with HMRC that they need not correct matters! Not very satisfactory!

Online filing problem

Since posting my original comment I received a call back from Iris Support to point out that the position since the upgrade is correct and as pointed out in previous replies the recording of entries below LEL prior to the upgrade was incorrect! Forms P60 will therefore be incorrect with regard to NI earnings in column 1a where there are weeks where earnings were below LEL prior to the upgrade. Will it really matter?!
