Iris Openspace

Anyone else received a billing email?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

I've been using OpenSpace for years (for free) and just received this email:

"We're getting in touch to let you know that from 1st November 2019 we will be introducing a subscription fee for IRIS OpenSpace"

It doesn't say what the fee is (in the usual Iris way).

Anyone else had this email?

thanks

Andrew

You should probably have also given notice that you didn't want to continue 18 months ago along with a letter from your Mum giving her permission. You'll probably find you are locked into a 5 year contract now. Didn't you read the 83,000 terms and conditions before you clicked 'accept'?

Hi
I´ve been quoted £300 + VAT as I don't use any of their other 'core' products.

Will be interested to know what anyone is being quoted

Erp ... We use it without using the other products. Might be migrating off there shortly!

I've not received the email though, when did it come through?

I've got mine about 2 to 3 weeks ago

They have mention that they will suspend the service if you don't have any of their other products and haven't paid the new subscription

I was phoned by them on the 16th. They asked if I had received their email sent a couple of weeks before (which I hadn't). They said that they would send me that email again and that they had an "early bird offer" which ended on the 18th - if I accepted the offer I would get November and December free and the sub would last until the end of 2020.

I was quoted £200. As I use OpenSpace for many clients I accepted the offer.

The copy email I was sent does not mention a price. The contract I had to sign states £200 for the initial term. The invoice shows £300 less £100 discount = £200 (+ VAT). Due date on invoice shown as 1 January 20 (which is when the paid part starts).

(this charge only applies where you don't use other Iris products and you don't go over the 1 gb threshold)

I got the email as well, and I replied asking them to email me the price. No, they couldn't possibly do that - I HAD to speak to someone. Also quoted £300 + VAT. I said that was outside my budget. The bloke said he would speak to his manager and would call me back. Heard nothing, so now going to use Dropbox for free :-)

Yes the best kept secret in accountancy has been busted.

They contacted me yesterday for £300 pr annum.

I think if you don't sign up you lose access to your documents by 31.10.2019
so get downloading if you have not got already.

It was useful for free, but better/cheaper solutions available now that its paid for.

Also quoted £300+VAT, reduced to £200 after a phone call. Then realised it was still cheaper to upgrade Taxfiler to Pro and get it packaged with that.
I don’t use it for storage, just for sharing/signing docs I can’t email. Clients know to download a copy as it gets cleared out every now and then.

We use the free account, not had any correspondence from Iris to say it wont be available in the future.

Shhhh, once they find out they are like the terminator tracking you down.

Since they quoted me they are in daily contact to get me to sign up.

They are a merciless money machine fuelled only by the scent of sales. Try phoning support and get put in a queue, phone sales and there is someone positively salivating on the other end within 2 rings...

Yep, £300 for me too.
I’m off to find a cheaper solution as I don’t use it that much. Any ideas?

Just an update for this, IRIS is switching off the free accounts on 31.10.2019 so if you have not been contacted by them I would get backing up otherwise you will have to pay to access your data.

Not much time given to make a decision on it.
