Is anyone having issues with MTD VAT submission

Software no longer authorised

Didn't find your answer?

Search AccountingWEB

I signed up to MTD and filed via Sage 50 MTD enabled in March, I have come to submit latest VAT return and my software is no longer authorised and HMRC link to authorise software doesn't work, sage say it is HMRC issue and HMRC say it is sage. No help to me when trying to file and nobody can tell me why I have lost integration authorisation sage is interacting with HMRC interface but getting nowhere. Getting so fryustrated been going round in circles for a week now.

Yes, I have a few clients where the software tells me I'm not authorised, when I know 100% definitely that I am authorised.

I know exactly what you mean when you say there is nobody to help and you just end up going round in circles. Welcome to the club!

This is again a situation where you should get some additional MTD software and try things with that. At least from that you know whether you need to spend hours on the phone with HMRC or hours on the phone with your supplier.

Remember there is a lot of free bridging software that is available that does this.

Note also the link that says whether you have authorised software or not:

I will look at free bridging software as I authorised my software prior to MTD going live, I am being asked to get authority again but the HMRC link fails to enter the log in screen to get authority - may be because I already have it.

I have filed through MTD successfully in march but since the system has gone live nothing works - even the MTD team at HMRC say it is an HMRC web issue as it does not redirect correctly but the tech team refuse to check and say it is a say issue even though it is the HMRC link page - hence the complaint.

I have escalated the issue with a complaint as it is the HMRC link that has stopped working - hopefully I may get some explanation next week or at least some help. Wishful thinking!!!

The HMRC link has worked perfectly well for my clients today. It is the same link (with different query parameters - the bits after the question mark) for all suppliers.

Here is part of the link:
https://api.service.hmrc.gov.uk/oauth/authorize?response_type=code&clien... (there is more after this)

Dump sage. The amount of people who cant do anything useful using sage is astounding. Dunno why people even bother using it

It's 95% certain to be a Sage issue, their MTD integration is not working well, there's been several reported issues similar to what you describe of late.

Chasing HMRC for a resolution is just pointlessly kicking the problem into a black hole, there's nothing they can do to fix it.

I have suggested it before in other similar threads that using our software, Easy MTD VAT (https://easymtdvat.com) is the perfect way to find out (for free) if your existing MTD solution or HMRC is at fault.

You can use Easy MTD VAT to view your VAT obligations, liabilities and payments without coughing up any of your hard earned cash. If you can view those values in the Easy MTD VAT interface then Sage is at fault. If not then it is a HMRC problem (which they are hopefully trying to fix).

Using multiple MTD solutions is permissible. You are not tied to just one!

I have signed up to HMRC to MTD using software
package Pracctice-Osprey. Keep on getting
the message-'The client and/or agent is not authorised'.
The software co are saying it's HMRC problem but can't through them on the phone

I would guess that this is a 403 error which results from the underlying client not having joined MTD. If they pay by direct debit and it is the April-June stagger it is a bit late to join as it may be rejected by the online validation.
