Is Self employment relief available for companies?

Will the small businesses structured as Limited companies owners will benefit from this relief.

Didn't find your answer?

Majority of small businesses are operating as incorporate body(Limited  by shares) where the director is also 100% shareholder. Under the arrangement they get a small salary as a director and take dividends after paying corporation tax. As per chancellor's speech will they be entitled to Self employment relief? Or they are only entitled to furloughed employee's 80% wages.

Tough question. Not sure you find any answers on this forum. I've searched and searched but looks like no one has thought of this issue yet.

Those who derive their income from salary and dividends alone are not self employed, so will not be covered by the self employed scheme. They might be able to claim under the jobs retention scheme depending on whether they stop doing all work or not.

You need to read the other threads on this so you can correctly advise your clients. I was corrected on this yesterday.

You can ONLY claim if you are of retired age, receiving the state pension AND receiving more than two private pensions AND have an under state age partner who works (harder than you do).

That's me sorted then...tough on the rest of you.

Dumbest question ever, this one.

A director of their own limited company is not self-employed, despite what the bank/mortgage lender/insurance co. etc. etc. thinks.
