Is tax relief available?

Client cannot get finance for his sole trader business

Didn't find your answer?

This is such a simple question I'm sure, but I just can't find the answer so wonder if anyone can help?

My client is a sole trader and subject to an IVA, he has accordingly been refused credit for purchasing a van.  His wife (also an employee) can take the finance in her name but he wanted to be sure that he would still get tax relief.

I didn't think he would as everything would have to be in her name, including the ownership papers and it's a sole trader not a partnership.  Am I right?

Yes, tax relief can be obtained if the sole trader uses the vehicle for business use.
