Is the QBO VAT filing a joke ?

I was shocked to come across instructions on how to file VAT on QBO

Didn't find your answer?

The intructions go through various stages after you enter your HMRC login which include:-

1)A prompt stating : "Connecting to HMRC - good things come to those who wait"

2)Above is followed by another prompt which says :"Your Return has safely landed. HMRC is on the case" and pictures two UFOs

3)The next prompt says :"That worked a treat. Approved by HMRC - Your VAT Return just received the seal of approval. A confirmation is on its way over." This prompt features a Seal (as in arctic seal"

I think this is totally out of order. This is typical of the nonsense we get from QBO who let IT youths loose on serious systems. There is also the very misleading statement  that the Return has been approved by HMRC. The whole thing sickens me.

Here is the weblink to the instructions :https://community.intuit.com/articles/1590950-vat-online-submission-dire...

I hope it is all a dream and I will wake up from it.

It's good that you had the courage of your convictions and put your name to your complaint. Oh, hang on.

If you have a problem with it, tell Intuit about it. They are the ones that can make a change, and they are only likely to do it if they hear enough people have a problem with it.

Posting on here isn't going to change anything, especially if you do it anonymously. If you were expecting to whip up some grass roots campaign on such an inconsequential matter, I fear you are going to be sadly disappointed.

Formal complain being made to Intuit and professional body; particularly the bit about the Return having been "Approved" and "received the seal of approval"by HMRC.

Perhaps the web link I gave was just Intuit testing the system but I have asked colleagues if they are getting these prompts.

My name is only relevant to Intuit.

Your REAL name is only relevant to Intuit.

But there is no reason to hide your pseudonym here when asking this question. It is not a sensitive question, and it is accordingly abuse of the Anonymous function.

Whilst I personally think your question is pointless as well, misuse of Anonymous tends to put people's backs up.

Agree, each to their own.

However, I was prompted to make the comment because this is just one example where Intuit is giving misleading tax information. Just because the submission of the Return is successful does not mean that HMRC has approved it.

As more and more small businesses are being given a false sense of security by the "click and your tax affairs are all done" slogan by cloud software companies, I though it was a very important matter to post to the Accounting web forum.

complaining to your professional body , frankly that is ridiculous i see no reason why Intuit should change their policy.

Pour yourself a whisky from the decanter in the board room and worry about something important!

You really need to go out, let your hair down, have a few drinks and a good sh*g!

Moaning about nothing here!
