Is there currently an issue with Moneysoft Payroll

My moneysoft payroll software cant connect with my email server

Didn't find your answer?

My moneysoft payroll software has suddenly stopped connecting to my email server!  Nothing has changed to prevent connection. I have looked at my firewall which allows this software; I have changed email passwords; I have turned my computer off & restarted it; I have also tried using an alternative email address but I get the same message- Could not connect to the email server! - This issue has been happening since yesterday afternoon.

Is there currently an issue with Moneysoft or is there something else I need to try to resolve this?

best regards & stay safe

Steve

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I have had the same problem from yesterday. Its still doing it today. I'm using a BT Yahoo email address and a Sky broadband. I emailed Moneysoft and they said that it must be either BT or Sky that had changed something and its blocking the emails going. I spent an hour on the phone last night with BT and got nowhere. They suggested it must be Moneysoft because I can send and receive attachments to my email. I haven't tried Sky yet, I lost the will to live last night. If you are using either of these email or internet or neither it might narrow down the culprit for us.

Thanks for your reply. My normal email is with AOL but my alternative email I tried was Gmail. It is so frustrating.
My emails are working fine apart from my moneysoft emails!

Me too.

I gave up, downloaded stuff to a pdf and attached it to an email.

Not ideal though and sounds like a Moneysoft problem to me.

Not that I really know what I'm talking about..........

I've now tried my gmail email address and to get it to work I had to adjust a setting in my Google account to "allow less secure app access".
Not ideal but it seems to be working now

I might set up a Gmail account if it is working but just for the payrolls. To get the emails to send as you say you have to switch off the two step authentication on Gmail and allow less secure app access. We all seem to be using different email providers so it does sound like Moneysoft have changed something but I don't remember running an update yesterday.

Just sent an email using Yahoo Mail.

Yesterday, I just got a typical software gobbledy-gook error message, so something's changed.

Well, that's very kind of you. But I claim no special skills. It just happened.

I've had the same issue with my gmail account, but I did do a Moneysoft software update, which I suspect has caused the issue.

However, I already have the "allow less secure app access" flag set and restarted my computer, and still can't get it to work. Very frustrating!

Hi Steve. Whilst I am not specifically familiar with Moneysoft Payroll. These sorts of problems are often faced by free mail services. It maybe a change to the way the e-mails are being sent, either using SSL/TLS or using a different port.
It should be a case of tweaking the settings in Moneysoft, or as in the case of the gmail user who was able to accept connections from less secure apps which did the trick. These issues are frustrating but I would be happy to take a call and see if we are to talk you through fixing the problem. Many thanks.

I had a similar problem, I use different Gmail accounts for payroll including the Enterprise Edition. Allowing less secure apps worked for the fee Gmail account and I used a one time Application Specific password in the Enterprise Edition.

Since Tuesday I'm having same problem. I'm using Gmail. I wrote to Moneysoft and get same response: I'm afraid we have no other work around for Gmail. It does still currently work as I've tested it with my own Gmail account but they do appear to be updating their server settings which may stop allowing connections from external software such as ourselves.
I did all instructed steps on Google Account, switched on Less Secure Apps etc, nothing helped. So if we are having a problem using different mail providers I can assume that's an error from Payroll Manager side only.
Within next week I would need to send hundrets of P60's... God help me...

I have had this issue with Moneysoft and my Gmail account, since I set up the new payroll file for the new financial year. I've changed my email password, checked firewall, ticked "less secure apps" and nothing works. So frustrating. I need to send payslips and the P60 to staff as a password protected document. The issue looks to be with Moneysoft, as it is their software that isn't connecting!! I've tried a different email, but may try a new one that isn't gmail.

No problems at all for us (at the moment?). About 40 new year payrolls set up and working fine with Moneysoft and Gmail.

I'm having this problem too. I'm new to PM, I've allowed the "unsecure app" access on Gmail, I'm getting the emails from Gmail to say I'm trying to connect, but it just says can't connect. It's really frustrating. My domain based email doesn't work either.

Solution Found in my case! (This is if you are having problems with Gmail)

Here's what worked for me.

Gmail > Account > Security > App Passwords

Go here and generate an App Password for Moneysoft by selecting (Windows & Mail)

and then copy and paste that Password in your "Email Setup" in Moneysoft.

Basically this process authenticates Moneysoft to send out emails on behalf of you even if its insecure.

That's frustrating! Try turning off the "2 Step verification" in Gmail to check if that works?

The work round didn't work for me either. Moneysoft haven't put anything on their website since April and they indicate it is Avast and AVG anti virus that are causing the problem. I don't use either of these products so I'm at a loss. I've tried turning off Norton Anti virus and doing a test email but doesn't make any difference. It is taking ages to send out all the payslips every month now.
