Are you following a bookmark? I had this, but realised that if I just search for HMRC log in I can log in, but if I follow my bookmarked link it doesn't work (don't ask me why!).
Yes, always follow bookmark.
I appreciate that there are workarounds. However, I'm from the old school of; if it aint broke, why fix it?

For some unknown reason, even though I have bookmarks I just go into Edge, type in HMRC Login, Sign in and Register is highlighted, I click on it and my default login details and password come up.
I do sometimes get error messages but when I log in again I get error messages, in which case, it is genuinely down or I get in straight away.
