The Rasputin Svengali in #10 really is running things it seems. This will make things like a wealth tax and scrapping ER etc. more likely (if not in this Budget then another one) as he's desperate to cling on to his newfound mates up north by rebalancing the country's wealth with extra spending & all the rest of it.

Well, the new chancellor is MP for Richmond (the North Yorkshire one) so that might help him cling to his new found mates!

The Scots leading the way again and showing how it’s done, then. (Although I assume that no texts to young boys were involved on this occasion.)

Being surrounded by yesmen and women never works.

Really? The chancellor's job when you have a feckless idiot PM who spaffs money up the wall on big projects is to reign him in and say "NO"

Dictatorships where you never listen to "the other side" makes for very weak government and poor decisions. See HS2. Even Cummings didnt want to do that.

I wouldn't class Boris as a dog. Dog's are loyal, friendly, honest creatures.

In fact, I don't think there are any animals I'd insult by likening them to Boris.

A plague infected rat maybe, but even that might be harsh on the rat.

My spidey sense was tingling, but he never took the bait. We'll see I guess.

A bit like having an all powerful leader, dictating what's to happen, whilst his serfs run around doing his bidding. I guess you would think that your kingship, but I don't think that's necessarily how it works in this day and age.

PS. Your wife and I have something in common.
