Jolyon Maugham, the fox and the baseball bat

A late contender for story of the year?

Didn't find your answer?

From the BBC News: RSPCA looks into lawyer Jolyon Maugham's claim he killed fox with baseball bat

Any other tax professionals have a similar boxing day? Maybe Justin Bryant dynamited a family of moles? Or Tax Dragon incinerated some woodlice? The accountancy world needs to know!

It's a spoof. I bet he doesn't own a baseball bat

You never see folk using cricket bats in such a manner.

I once heard him described as a complete and utter []. {Redacted on the advice of my lawyer.}

I did read that he has a windmill. A proper one.

He says here https://waitingfortax.com/: "I was an adviser on tax policy to Labour under Ed Miliband – and have (although not recently or in connection with this policy) advised the present Shadow Treasury Team."

I was also once told that he has defended some egregious (if that's the right word) tax avoidance schemes. I found this example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27356896

Speaking of Kirk Smeaton, is the Shoulder of Mutton still going strong?

Yes - it got a mention on Facebook as the temporary HQ of the sabs (or was it the supporters ? - I can't remember) in the aftermath of the Boxing Day fighting.

The bloke with the dead fox seems to be off his head.

If the fox had a baseball bat, then surely the lawyer was acting in self-defence.

There are loads of foxes where I live and I must say wouldn't even think of harming a hair on their head (or what's left of that on the mangy ones I see). Trolls are of course a different matter altogether!

Whatever the merits of beating foxes up with baseball bats (and don't forget the chickens it would have killed) who on earth would employ anyone stupid enough to shout it on twitter. I can only assume he thought it was a good publicity stunt. Well - he did get the publicity, but..................................
