Late payment penalty

What is the date when the late payment penalty kicks in

Didn't find your answer?

The leap year has thrown me off. When does the 30 day late payment penalty kick in?

I make it midnight 1st March 2020 which agrees to HMRC's calculator but the Ross Martin website shows midnight 2nd March 2020.

Thanks in advance.

I agree.

Folk who like sailing close to the edge this year might find that they've sailed over it.

Not to mention that the last banking day is Friday, 28th February.

Not worth the risk for a couple of days extra credit, imho. I'll be advising payment no later than the Friday.

Thanks Lion - just wanted to make sure I was accurate when advising on when the penalties crystallise who those clients who can't (or won't) pay

No point in taking silly risks. There could be some concession to the leap year but 30 days is 30 days for me. Not 31 just because it's a leap year.

More to the point, HMRC are saying 1st March on their website.
