Leaving IRIS-What to Extract & Retain Within GDPR

Help Please Leaving IRIS - What to Extract & Retain Within GDPR

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking at leaving IRIS. They tell me that I will have read only access and will be unable to extract information after the 1 month period of grace expires.I could use the extract facility now but that information is only usable in future I think if transferred back into a live IRIS system. The extraction is for all historical files for a particular client. For a client no longer with me I understand that I should be keeping 7 years only but am struggling to see how I would be able to delete one year at a time if I don't have a functioning IRIS system. Does anyone one have any suggestions please  as to how I can retain information that may be needed and be GDPR compliant. I don' want to transfer the old clients into a new system.

Surely if it's inaccessible by you it is also inaccessible by anyone who may access your systems, so it is as good as deleted after the grace period anyway? Personally I wouldn't have given this a second thought.

When I transferred from IRIS, I was able to access and print reports after the end of my subscription. Still can, over a year later.

Yep, same for us, about 3 years on now. You can't alter anything, but accessing reports is fine.

And that is exactly the problem. If you are unable to amend or delete the data then you are not GDPR compliant.
