Looking for accountancy qoute

Must use VT software

Didn't find your answer?

Search AccountingWEB

I run my own ltd company. Turnover has been consistanty around £100,000+

However, as of 2019-20 I am drastically downsizing my workload. Likely to be £15,000-£20,000 for 2019-20 and then lower thereafter (around £10,000/yr)

I am awaiting a qoute from my current accountant for this lesser future work .... but am expecting it to be high..... is there anyone else who works with VT (I dont want to learn new software at this stage) willing to qoute. I do my own vat returns. Accountant usually does my personal tax return.

VT suggested I post here

Apart from the fact this is not a jobs board and you are posting in the wrong place (did you read what it said before you opened an account?????) you need to define what you want before you ask for a quote.

Problem, you have not defined the service you want.

Cheap is best churn it out ,and XXX your tax (you pay that)
UK front end, but all subbed out to India to people who don't know you, your business, or how to do accounts.
Bookkeeper who thinks they can do tax and will make a compelete XXXX of it.
Proper accountant to do a decent job and look after you?

Secondly we don't have a clue what you actually do so how much work it might be. Not even vague idea upon which to quote.

Thirdly, if your turnover is going to be £10k why the flying fig do you want a company? Do you just like paying accountants costs?

So many questions from one post. Well done!

'lesser work'. Less T/o doesnt always mean less work. Such a drop could initially mean more, based on very valid suggestion by IRSKT.

Would you still need to do VAT returns.

Accountants dont need access to VT, even if you do have, so thats a non issue.

Are you happy with/trust your Accountant? If so, that is worth more than a few pennies in saving. Why not at least wait until he/she comes back to you with some suggestions before jumping ship.

1. Why do you think it's less work - is your bookkeeping generally poor that requires correction and because there are fewer transactions that means you have made fewer mistakes?

2. What fee do you think is 'high'? What fee did you pay before?

People need some context in order to provide answers that have some value.

"I am awaiting a qoute (sic) from my current accountant for this lesser future work".

Loyalty isn't high on the agenda then?

Strange, isn't it, how these days, everyone's an expert about someone else's field of work? Some humility might not go amiss?

In Jan 2019 you said you were moving to Jersey in May 2019 setting up a company there and making your UK dormant or probably not. All this will have influence what price you are quoted. The best thing to do is speak to local accountants and they can quote based on the full picture.

If your books are good then the 90% drop in turnover doesn't equate to a drop in work. It might not even be any less work at all.

What would help reduce your accountancy bills is disincorporating, if that's an option. Perhaps you should discuss that with your current accountant. There will be many more concerns other than your accountancy fees to drive this decision.
