Making Tax Digital - for Business deferred?

Didn't find your answer?

The Chancellors Spring Statement contained a section entitled "Maintaining the tax system" and included in it was Making Tax Digital (MTD) and the passage - "the Government will therefore not be mandating MTD for any new taxes or businesses in 2020".

Can we (reasonably) take it that MTD (Accounts) has been deferred until at least 2021?

I don't know what you mean by MTD (Accounts) but if you mean MTD for Income or Corporation Tax then yes, it would seem that that's exactly what was meant.

Thanks - I find that clients can handle the seperate parts of MTD roll out better if they are referred to as MTD VAT and MTD Accounts
