marriage allowance and 2015/16 tax return

marriage allowance and 2015/16 tax return

Didn't find your answer?

I have found on page 5 of the 2015/16 tax you can make the claim to transfer the personal allowance but I can't find where on the return you make a claim for the allowance as the transferee. Has anyone found where to do this?

The recipient cannot claim the allowance. Submit the return without it and HMRC will adjust it later.

Glitch in SA system

I have the transferred 10% personal allowance in my 2015-16 notice of coding but the SA system does not include it.

HMRC - " We are aware of the problem and are working on the resolution.  Please do not submit your tax return until we fix it.  We cannot tell you when that will be so please keep checking the SA web site".

I have spoken to HMRC agent helpline today they said that I would need to file the clients 15-16 tax return as normal (client receiving the 15-16 marriage allowance) which will obviously not include the adjusted personal allowance.  HMRC then send a revised calculation including the allowance.

You only have to enter details in the transferring spouse tax return for 2015-16 and only if they complete one in the first place.
