If you are estranged from your husband, I would understand. But if you are not please explain your reasoning.

I don’t understand if you have a particular issue (maybe related to the specifics of the two businesses) or just a “gut feeling” but, at the end of the day, you are free to take advice from whomever (if that’s the right word) you wish. The opinion of anyone on here is irrelevant; it’s entirely your choice.

In the case of a married couple, one accountant acting for both is likely to be able to advise more effectively and efficiently.

If you have specific reasons why you would prefer to appoint your own then that is an entirely reasonable course of action however don't expect either one to comment of the others work.

Agree with Roland195.

But you use the same accountant, you may both wish to make clear to the accountant that they should not discuss your business affairs with your husband and vice versa. Likewise they should not accept instructions from one on behalf of the other.

If you get a different accountant, how will you ensure that each has sufficient knowledge to advise you properly as a family?

If, on the other hand, privacy is one of the reasons for your choice, that's grand, but kiss goodbye to any tax planning opportunities available to you.

Up to you as a couple, obviously.

And that's the reason why you should hire one of your very own!

I'm not sure if everyone's being coy/polite or simply hasn't looked at your only previous post at
Unless things have changed dramatically for the better in the last 15 months, I'd say you know the answer to whether it would be a good idea to have separate accountants ... but we're in the realms of relationships and personal trust issues on which advice from a bunch of accountants may (for once) not be what you need.
Good luck whatever you decide.
