Maternity

Holiday pay

I know this isn’t accountancy based but I read somewhere that unpaid leave doesn’t accrue holiday pay.

So would extending my maternity leave and taking the extra 3 months off unpaid still accrue the holiday entitlement?

thanks in advance

No, it wouldn't.

If 'the extra 3 months' that you refer to are weeks 40-52 in which no Statutory Maternity Pay is payable, then my understanding is that this period is still classed as maternity leave, and you continue to accrue holidays during this period.

If you are referring to Additional Maternity Leave which is roughly 3 months then yes, you continue to accrue leave. If you have already taken a year and wish to take a further 3 months unpaid leave then you wont accrue anything throughout that period.
