I understand from what I have read that car allowance is a benefit which does not comprise wage or salary, and as an employee on maternity leave would still continue to keep their car, it is suggested that the same should apply to car allowance too.
However, I have also read that car allowance is considered to be part of remuneration and probably not payable, but as the law seems to be unclear on this, I wondered if anyone had any definitive answers if they have had to face this themselves and how they have treated it?
Thanking you in advance.

From memory of this a few years ago, I seem to remember that it had to continue to be paid.
May have mis-remembered though.
Bear in mind that only women get pregnant so removing this benefit would be seen as discrimination on grounds of gender.
Pay it.
