Mileage allowable or not

Locum GP advice about mileage claims

Didn't find your answer?

A locum GP had a self employed post for 5 months where they worked the same days at a practice. My understanding is that this wouldn't be allowable in terms of mileage claims as it's 'regular and predictable' even though they were engaged on a self employed basis. They had a number of engagements working a number of practices. Though one of these was for 5 months.

In taking up future postings, would it be wise to advise a place were they vary their hours / days week to week for a temporary contract for a similar length of time to claim mileage? Also in terms of length of time of posting, how long is the test of time before the client working the same days of the week at a particular practices becomes 'regular and predictable'. 1 month? Longer?

If I'm wrong in the first assumption re: 5 months, can you signpost to most relevant guidance notes?
