Mileage allowance to employees and TUPE

Can a client claim 45p a mile for both jobs?

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I have a client who is an employee and claims tax relief on his mileage for his employment each year.

During the year his employer went into administration and his company were taken over by another company with his employment rights etc transferred to the new business under TUPE.

I know that if an employee has two jobs then they get two 10,000 mile allowances at 45p but I wondered if he switched jobs in this way then would he be able to claim two lots of 10,000 miles at 45p or would they be classed as the same job meaning he would only be entitled to one lot of 10,000 miles at 45p?

Sorry if that was a bit long winded and thanks in advance for any advice that can be offered.

Thanks. I thought that logically but thought it best to check.
