A small retailer just along from our office (not a client) popped in earlier to ask if we could help. Apparently he put his employee on furlough in April for 4 months but was unable to navigate the HMRC system and claim the furlough grant. Finally he came to me today to ask if we could help.
His payroll provider had told him that they didn't know how to make the claim so he had tried himself but clearly failed beaten by HMRCs online systems.
I have told him that July 31st was the deadline for making the first claims and so now sadly it was too late.
Do HMRC have any procedure to help with late claims or has he missed the boat completely now
