Missing clients on agent account

Has anyone else had this?

Didn't find your answer?

I have clients I know I have been authorised for and some seem to have randomly disappeared from the agent account.

I checked the POA for someone at Christmas but now they have vanished. I also added someone new a week ago and they are not showing up.

HMRC adds hours of wasted time to our jobs every week.

Its a yes from me, Glenn and it is a cause of a lot of wasted time along with not processing 64-8s for VAT/PAYE. Would be nice if HMRC concentrated on doing the simple things well, rather than grand schemes.

If its lots of them, they will come back.

If its one or two, and a new client it might be the old accountant re-registering in error (maybe with a paper 64-8) , or the client deleting you from their own tax account. We have also had clients with historical issues using a third party to resolve which kicks us off. (Eg loan charge)

If it happens more than once, I have had the client call up HMRC to check who is registered as their agent.....

Regarding the one you added last week. Log in via gateway account and check that the client has been assigned a team member.

We've had this issue for a while and when calling HMRC they were no help. I have just made sure all clients are assigned and that has made them all appear for us.

Im missing a couple who Ive acted for years for. They are always late in January bringing things in, so I can't tell if its HMRC or them!

Im assuming they have taken on someone else to complete them as Ive not heard anything, despite leaving messages. Now you have me wondering. Ill call again tomorrow

I'm finding that new clients aren't appearing on my list, whether added with paper 64-8s or online filing. I'd wondered if it was connected to setting up the new agent services account, and looked at that, but of course that doesn't do anything useful like give you client lists.

I know that we are registered as agents. For the paper 64-8s we have received letters from HMRC. For the most recent online authorisations, I had to phone HMRC to obtain information, and it was readily given. When I asked why the client wasn't on my list, the HMRC advisor checked their end and said that all was in order. Suggested that I contact the agent maintainer for the area. I'll try that - in February.

I've had it once Glenn and it was a relative so I could be a bit more direct with him and ask if had done something stupid like delete me from his PTA. No reason at all forthcoming so put it down to yet another HMRC foible and applied for agent again.

How you doing anyway, tax returns all done and Beadnell booked for the 31st?

Ha Ha

Not bad just a few last minute wobbles from the usual suspects.

I feel another February cull coming for a few people.

I am actually away for long weekend this Friday regardless

Actually been busier with on boarding new work than tax returns

Just could do without HMRC systems playing up at the minute as it stops you doing a good job.

I found a client was missing from my list.
I phoned HMRC and HMRC said the client must have got another accountant.
I phoned client and he confirmed he hadn't got another accountant or withdrawn me as an agent.
I phoned HMRC and told them. They couldn't do anything and suggested I just get authorised again.
They didn't seem to want to see if there had been any activity regarding change of authorisation on my client's account even if I wouldn't be informed.
HMRCs solution is always to expect the accountant to resolve their [***] ups.
